What Makes This Place Different?

What sets Bell Springs Vineyards apart from other Texas wineries is its beautiful outdoor seating areas, an onsite brewery, and an excellent wine with a catchy name: “Needy Bitch”.

My Wine Pick

Among the exquisite selection at Bell Springs Vineyards, the standout for me was the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc on the White side and the 2020 Sangiovese on the Red side. These wines perfectly capture the essence of Texas terroir with their rich, robust flavors and smooth finish. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or a casual taster, these two wines are a must-try.

History and Facility

Bell Springs Vineyards began with a vision to create a space where people could relax and enjoy fine Texas wine. Over the years, it has grown into a beloved destination for both locals and tourists. The facilities are top-notch, featuring a charming tasting room, expansive covered outdoor seating areas with stunning views, and a dedicated event space perfect for private gatherings. There is no indoor seating, just standing at the bar. So, when you go, take note of the seating. The winery also hosts live music and food events, making every visit a delightful experience.

The Wines

Memorable Wine(s): 2020 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2020 Sangiovese

Good, But Not Memorable Wine(s): 2019 Montepulciano (my third favorite, high tannins), 2019 Chenin Blanc, 2020 Tempranillo (well-balanced tannins)

Not So Good Wine(s): 2019 Merlot (ok, it didn’t taste bad, but it had a smidgeon of fruit flavor and that is about it. Not every wine can be really good!

Other Wines

Other wines I didn’t get a chance to try included the 2021 Nebbiolo rosé, the 2020 Viognier, and the 2020 Alicante Bouschet. In June 2024 expect the next vintage of Needy Bitch to come out. I have had a previous vintage that was excellent. Expect this one to be a blend of Carignan, Mourvèdre, Sangiovese, and Refosco.

Wine Club

For those who want to delve deeper into the world of Texas wine, Bell Springs Vineyards offers an interesting Wine Club, as it offers a subscription club in addition to the standard wine club. The subscription is $30/month, and the funds are on your account to use as you wish. You still receive complimentary glass of wine or pint of beer when you visit for you and your companion along with the appropriate discounts. Standard Wine Club membership provides exclusive access to limited-edition wines, discounts on purchases. A minimum of three bottles four times a year and you can select the wines you want for each shipment. Unlike most clubs, you only have to take one shipment. It’s a fantastic way to stay connected with the winery and enjoy its latest creations.

I also took the opportunity to try out one of the beers from the brewery. I chose the IPA and it was excellent!

Conclusion

In conclusion, Bell Springs Vineyards exemplifies the best of Texas wineries, offering outstanding wines, a welcoming atmosphere, and a beautiful setting. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely afternoon in the tasting room or celebrating a special occasion, this winery promises an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend visiting Bell Springs Vineyards for your next Texas wine adventure.
