What Makes This Place Different?
Michael Ros Winery stands out by combining a strong focus on 100% Texas-grown fruit with an eco-conscious, community-first approach. But what you’ll notice the most is the amazing “vibe” of the winery indoors and out and the exceptional positivity from the staff.
My Wine Pick
I am going to have to choose the 2021 Sangiovese. For white lovers, the 2021 Roussanne is a bright delight—crispy and aromatic, ideal for sipping under the Texas sun.
History and Facility
Mike and Rosann Mitrione started their wine journey in 2018 with plantings in the Texas High Plains and later built their Fredericksburg estate in 2021–2023. Their circular tasting room, inspired by a European piazza, features glass walls overlooking vineyards, pecan trees, and even roaming Longhorns—a beautiful and immersive Texas Winery design that contributes heavily to the overall vibe of the winery. I was there on a Thursday with live music (available on Thursdays and Saturdays) which made it even more fun. This is definitely a place you could spend your afternoon.

The Wines
Memorable Wine(s): 2021 Sangiovese, 2021 Roussanne
Very Good, But Not Memorable Wine(s): 2022 Viognier, 2023 Trebbiano, 2020 Tempranillo
Other Wine(s): Pinot Grigio, Malbec, Tannat
- Overall value of the wines: GOOD
- Cost of Whites / Rose’s: The whites range between $30 and $32.
- Cost of Reds: The reds range between $49 and $54
- Most Expensive: The most expensive wine is the 2021 Tannat at $54.
I won’t say that any one wine really made me say “wow”, but the Sangiovese was the closest to that. The value on these wines is decent, and I was not turned off by any of them.
