Winery
I have visited a lot of wineries in the Texas Hill Country, and almost all get many if not almost all of their grapes from the Texas High Plains (Lubbock region). One of those for several wineries would be Reddy Vineyards. I visited Reddy Vineyards at their vineyard tasting room, not one of the others which are remote. So, I was surrounded by the roughly 300 acres of vines they manage. I was able to spend over two hours with Roman, the winemaker at Reddy. The tasting is done in the production facilities, so it was a welcome change from more structured tasting in a formal tasting room. I learned so much more about Reddy and their wines than I ever would have in a tasting room. The facility is so interesting, although what you might expect at a vineyard. But, I recommend a tasting of this sort if you haven’t done one before.

Wines
I had not previously tasting wines from Reddy Vineyards’ label but have tasted other wines made from their grapes by other vineyards. Reddy produces mostly single varietal wines, which I prefer. I believe I tasted ten different wines, and not even one disappointed me. The white wine selection is not extensive, but I took home a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was excellent. I also tasted a bottle of “soon to be released” Reserve Pinot Noir which was also excellent, especially after letting in air a bit. I took home a bottle of this one too and will let it lay for about a year before I uncork it. Besides these, I tasted a myriad of others such as cabernet sauvignon and Syrah. Overall, they all impressed me and I am sure would impress you too.

Summary
I have never given a wine tasting experience with the accompanying wine a 5 out of 5 in a review, but this one gets it. I recommend if you get the chance to try some Reddy Vineyards wines, you take it. And if you get a chance to visit the tasting room in Brownfield at their vineyards, do it!
