What Makes This Place Different?
Texas Hills Vineyards stands out as one of the first wineries to open in the Texas Hill Country 290 region, opening to the public in 1999.
My Wine Pick
If I had to choose just one standout from Texas Hills Vineyards, it would be their 2015 Malbec NV (Newsome Vineyards). This bold red is everything you want in a red wine – rich, full-bodied, and packed with deep fruit flavors and just the right amount of spice. With smooth tannins and a lingering finish, this wine pairs beautifully with a range of dishes, from Texas barbecue to a hearty pasta. It’s a wine that embodies the passion and skill Texas Hills brings to every bottle.
History and Facility
Texas Hills Vineyards was founded in 1995, and since then, it has become a beloved staple in the Texas Wine scene. The founders brought their passion for wine from their Italian heritage, merging it with Texas’ bold flavors to create something truly special. The winery itself is a stunning combination of rustic charm and modern elegance, with breathtaking views of the Hill Country’s rolling vineyards. The tasting room is spacious yet cozy, designed to make you feel at home while sipping on your favorite Texas Wine. Whether you’re there for a casual tasting or a private event, the facilities provide a warm, inviting atmosphere. However, the winery itself is not the most elegant you will find. It is a bit dated due to its age, but I am told they are looking at a renovation and expansion that would up its appeal.
The Wines
Memorable Wine(s): 2015 Malbec, Bianca (White Port)
Good, But Not Memorable Wine(s): Kick Butt Cab
Not So Good Wine(s): Didn’t have any of these!
The wine tasting experience was very enlightening. Regarding value, the 2015 Malbec was selling for $20 per bottle which is a fantastic price. I walked out with several of those plus a Bianca. The rest of their wines are very reasonably priced and give the wines here good value for the money.
Other Wines
We tried numerous other reds and whites, and were surprised by how nice the Bianca was. Bianca is a white port wine and tastes very different from the usual dark port wines most people are accustomed to. The Kick Butt Cab was very good, but second place for me behind the Malbec.
Wine Club
Texas Hills Vineyards offers an impressive Wine Club, perfect for anyone who wants to experience the best of Texas Wineries year-round. Members enjoy exclusive access to limited-production wines, generous discounts, and invitations to member-only events, such as winemaker dinners and private tastings. The club also offers customizable shipments, so you can tailor your wine selection to your personal taste preferences, making each delivery a unique and exciting experience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Texas Hills Vineyards offers a remarkable experience for anyone who loves Texas Wine. With its Italian-influenced wines, sustainable practices, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s no wonder this winery has earned a stellar reputation among Texas Wineries. Whether you’re enjoying a glass of their Kick Butt Cab or exploring the benefits of their Wine Club, Texas Hills offers something special for every wine lover.
