What Makes This Place Different?
Farmhouse Vineyards stands out because of its dedication to sustainable farming and its commitment to creating authentic Texas wine. They also offer a charming, down-to-earth atmosphere that feels like a slice of home.
My Wine Pick
When it comes to picking the best wine at Farmhouse Vineyards, the “Boyfriend” is a standout. This white blend captures the bright, fruit-forward character that I adore in a summer wine. It’s refreshing, crisp, and perfect for any occasion, whether you’re sipping it on their patio or taking it home for a quiet evening. The floral notes and zesty finish make it a top choice for anyone who enjoys a well-balanced white.
History and Facility
Farmhouse Vineyards is a family-owned and operated business that has its roots deep in the Texas soil.
The family has been farming in the Texas High Plains for over five generations, and their passion for agriculture shines through in every bottle of wine they produce. The winery is located in a beautifully restored farmhouse that reflects the charm and heritage of Texas ranch life. The tasting room is cozy yet modern, offering stunning views of the surrounding vineyards. Whether you’re looking for a casual tasting or an intimate event space, their facilities provide the perfect backdrop.
The Wines
We tasted several of the wines at Farmhouse, and here is our overall opinion.
Memorable Wine(s): Jack Knifed: GSM, Petite Syrah, Boyfriend
Good, But Not Memorable Wine(s): Come and See It, Housewife
Not So Good Wine(s): None of these here!
Other Wines
There is a limited selection at Farmhouse, as they only keep about 5% of their grapes for their own wine and sell the remainder to other wineries. Here is a post board of some of their grape-buying clients.
Farmhouse wines are interestingly named, with names like Jack Knifed, Proving Ground, Cultivated, and Boyfriend / Girlfriend. There are quite a few to choose from, but they don’t produce a lot of cases of any one wine.
Wine Club
Farmhouse Vineyards offers an exceptional Wine Club that allows members to experience the best of Texas wine all year long. With exclusive access to limited-edition wines, special discounts, and invitations to member-only events, joining the Wine Club is a no-brainer for anyone who loves Texas Wineries. Plus, members can customize their shipments to suit their preferences, ensuring that every delivery is a delightful surprise (the Farmer’s Market option). There are also two other options (Praydirt and Cultivated), the former being a 3-bottle club and the latter a 12-bottle club (3 selections, 4 bottles each). All members receive a 20% or 25% discount on wine all the time.
The Farmhouse wine club is unique in the Hill Country and a good way to continue enjoying Farmhouse wines.
