What Makes This Place Different?

Invention Vineyards uniquely combines historical richness with cutting-edge wine production techniques, setting a new standard for Texas Wineries in both quality and innovation.

My Wine Pick

By far it was the P2 (Petit Sirah and Petit Verdot blend) called “P-Squared”. Sells for $58.82 Non-member price.

History and Facility

Invention Vineyards is steeped in history, originally founded by Carl Hilmar Guenther as a grist mill in 1851. Today, it boasts a bustling 25,000 sq ft production facility amidst 35 acres of vines. With over 50 stainless tanks and a 2000-barrel cellar, it’s a testament to the evolution of winemaking in Texas. The vineyard produces 20,000 cases annually, contributing significantly to the state’s wine industry. Guided tours of the winery offer an insightful glimpse into the meticulous process behind each bottle (Invention Vineyards).

The wine tasting room is spacious, although there are not a lot of sitting spaces. Tasting is all done standing at the bars. There are really nice outdoor spaces for sitting and enjoying your wine, but it is members only.

A little history on the name: IV is the Roman Numeral 4. For the owners, Grape Creek was #1, Heath Sparkling was #2, Jenblossom was #3, and Invention Vineyards is #4. Do you see that Invention Vineyards initials are “IV”.

The Wines

Here is where I outlined the results of my personal wine tasting, including occasionally thoughts of others who attended the tasting with me.

Memorable Wines: P2 (Petit Sirah and Petit Verdot blend) “P-Squared”, Tempranillo

Not So Memorable Wines: Imaginada (White blend), Viognier, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, RB (Right Bank) Bourdeaux style blend,

Not Good Wines: Luckily, none fit this category!

Other Wines They Produce: Riesling, Mourvèdre Rose, Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Tannat, Soleluce (Tuscan blend), LB (Left Bank) Bordeaux style blend
