Narrow Path Winery has some great views and great wines. The selection is not extensive as it is a boutique winery compared to other larger producers, but what they have is worth the visit.

In the world of wine, I’ve always been intrigued by the potential that regional offerings bring to the global table. When diving into the unique realm of Texas wines, my senses were beautifully arrested by the products of Narrow Path Winery. This haven, nestled amidst the serene landscape of Texas, transcends the typical expectations of Texas wineries, bringing forth a symphony of tastes that reverberates through every sip.
The Texas wine industry has been buzzing with excitement over the years, and Narrow Path Winery stands as a testament to the passion, dedication, and craftsmanship Texas vintners bring. From its captivating history to the subtle notes in every bottle, this review aims to celebrate the essence of Texas wines, with Narrow Path Winery in the spotlight.
History and Facility
Narrow Path Winery, rooted in the heart of Texas, boasts an ancestry rich in commitment to the art of winemaking. Drawing inspiration from multiple generations, the winery’s foundation is firmly grounded in the traditions of old, while simultaneously embracing modern innovations. This melding of past and present is evident in the architecture of their facility – a blend of rustic charm with contemporary elegance.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Texas’s landscape, the winery provides not just wines, but an experience. Every corner of their facility tells a story, making it a pilgrimage site for every wine enthusiast.
Located a few miles off Texas Interstate 290 on South Ranch Road 1623, one thing you’ll notice about Narrow Path is when you walk in and see the breathtaking view of the vineyard and rolling hills, you will instantly relax. There is room to sit inside, and even more room to sit outside, with all the seating areas facing the vineyards.
Speaking of vineyards, there are about 10 acres of vineyards at Narrow Path, and their total production for the year is about 3000 cases per year, where most of the other larger wineries produce over 10,000 cases per year. This makes Narrow Path a bit of a boutique winery.
Wine Highlights
During my visit to Narrow Path Winery, I did a standard tasting which consisted of six wines: two whites, one Rose’, and three reds. Tastings were $25 which is pretty standard. White wines retail for $32 per bottle, while the reds range from $45 to $48. They have a small menu at the winery and I chose to have the baked brie with honey which was fantastic!
My tasting was from the full extent of their selection. There are only six wines. So, I am just going to list them all below and give you my feedback and experience with all of them.
- 2022 Marsanne: A prominent wine in the Texas Hill Country, this one has a fruity flavor with a hint of green apple. This one was clean and nice and had a nice finish.
- Field Stone: This wine is a mixture of the Marsanne and Trebbiano. I didn’t find it to my liking as it seems that by adding the Trebbiano it took away the favorables flavors I experienced with the Marsanne. I didn’t feel the flavors came out in this one.
- 2022 Texas Rosé: Light and refreshing, this rosé is a dance of strawberries and peaches with a flirtatious, crisp finish. Made with Cinsault and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Not bad as far as Rosés go.
- 2021 Sangiovese: This wine was 22 months in new and neutral French oak casks, You will get notes of plum lots of black cherry. This was one of my favorites. This wine is a testament to the versatility and depth Texas wines can offer.
- 2021 Mourvèdre: A medium to full-bodied wine with a flavor highlighted by dark fruit and black pepper. I really noticed the black pepper and it was awesome. This was also one of my favorites.
- Reserve Tempranillo: Texas wineries are often celebrated for their Tempranillos, and Narrow Path’s Reserve stands out brilliantly in this category with some peppery finish as most Tempranillos do.
All in all, it was a successful tasting. In the end, I would rank the 2021 Mourvèdre as my first choice, and the 2021 Sangiovese as my second.
Wine Clubs
The Narrow Path Wine Club is very consistent with other wine clubs where you can sign up for different levels and receive wine every quarter. They offer 3, 16, and 12 bottle options with different discount amounts at each level. Some wines are reserved for wine club members, and there are wine pickup parties which are complementary. One nice thing about their wine club is that you can completely customize your shipment.
Members have access to far more wines than the public. At the time of my visit, there were 13 wine options for members.
Conclusion
By visiting Narrow Path Winery, you’re not just exploring a winery, but embracing the rich tapestry of flavors and experiences Texas wines have to offer. They are more of a boutique winery, but the experience and surroundings are very calming and beautiful. I will keep Narrow Path on my short list of Texas Wineries.
